The Mother’s Love Foundation was established with a singular, vital mission: to protect the sacred heritage of Oaxaca from the pressures of industrialization. As we witnessed the landscape shifting toward the mass cultivation of blue agave, we realized that sustainable production required more than just good practices—it required active preservation. We founded Mother’s Love to serve as a guardian for the biodiversity and the communities that call this region home.
Our approach is radical in its simplicity and profound in its impact. The foundation purchases land and returns it directly to the indigenous people of Oaxaca. In exchange for this stewardship, these communities agree to teach others the ancient arts of the region: how to preserve rare, wild types of agave, how to distill with traditional integrity, and how to keep the true Mezcalero tradition alive.
This exchange creates a cycle of preservation and empowerment. By securing the land, we prevent the spread of monoculture and ensure that the unique, biodiverse agave species of Oaxaca continue to thrive. Mother's Love is our way of giving back to the culture that has given us so much, ensuring that the wisdom of the past is not lost to the demands of the future, but rather preserved for generations to come.
